The initial home sleep test is typically provided to practice's patients who have either been diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea from before, but their results are too old or for patients who have never been diagnosed. Sometimes, lifestyle changes are also indicative of needing to undergo a new study (ex. weight gain).
We will send the provider who referred the patient for the home sleep test the results. Some patients, may not have sleep apnea and may benefit from losing weight or changing sleep positions.
For patients who are diagnosed, treatment options will likely include: Oral Appliance Therapy; CPAP; or Surgery.
Once a patient has underwent treatment, a follow up sleep test is provided to determine whether or not the treatment option selected is benefiting the patient.
The patient will follow up with their provider to discuss the results. Sometimes, patients need to undergo a different treatment options; while others, may be referred to other specialists to further workup.
